What's new, version by version — the short, user-visible story.
1.6.0Latest
Help arrives when you click into a text box
The assistant mark. Click into a text box that already has something in it and a small mark appears in the corner — one click opens the whole-text panel with Improve, Fix grammar and Shorten ready to go. No selecting first. It keeps out of the way: not on search or URL fields, not on tiny boxes, hidden while you type, and switchable off per field, per site, or everywhere.
Early Word for the web support. Built to insert through Word's own editing pipeline, because the failure that hurts is text that looks inserted and is quietly reverted seconds later. If that happens you're told and handed the text to paste, rather than shown a false "Inserted".
The "this will remove your quoted reply" warning now actually appears in Gmail. It was checking the wrong element and never fired in the case it was written for — and whole-text rewrites were operating on part of the box instead of all of it.
1.5.0
Alt+K, a private API key, and a card that behaves
The rewrite shortcut is now Alt+K. Ctrl/Cmd+K is "insert link" in Gmail, Notion and Slack, and we were taking it over at exactly the moment you had text selected. All three shortcuts are now configurable in Settings, and yours moves automatically if you never changed it.
Your API key really does stay on this device. Turning on "sync across devices" used to upload your key and sign-in token to your Google account. Only real settings sync now — and if an earlier version already uploaded your credentials, this release deletes them from sync.
Replace All warns you before flattening a rich text box. In a Gmail reply it used to silently remove your signature and the quoted thread. Undo could also revert the wrong edit; both fixed.
Rewrites no longer hang on a spinner. After about 30 seconds idle the extension quietly dropped your request. Requests now queue and retry, and real failures show an error you can act on.
Dark mode, keyboard-reachable synonyms, screen-reader announcements and right-to-left support — and all 11 modes are actually reachable in the card, where only three used to fit.
Disabling one site no longer disables unrelated ones, and re-enabling works without a page reload.
1.4.0
Cloud works, and the free tier is 10× bigger
ParaphrasePro Cloud now works. A wiring bug meant every Cloud rewrite, synonym lookup and connection test failed. Fixed — and Cloud users are no longer capped by a second, local limit on top of their plan.
Free tier is now 10,000 tokens a day, up from 1,000 — roughly ten average rewrites instead of one. A token is about 4 characters. Clicking a word for synonyms is about 80% cheaper too.
Rewrites are never silently cut off. The length budget scales with your text, and if a result is truncated you're told — Insert and Replace All stay disabled so half a document can't overwrite a whole one.
Demo mode is a real demo. Academic, Summarize and Grammar previously did nothing at all. Concise used to cut sentences off mid-thought. All fixed, and demo results arrive in seconds.
Your selected text is now treated strictly as text to rewrite — never as instructions to follow. Fluent mode no longer quietly turns non-English writing into English.
Billing webhooks were failing every time, so a payment might not have upgraded your account. Two separate bugs, both fixed and covered by tests.
Password reset emails are actually sent now, and we corrected several claims on this site that our code didn't support — including Google Docs support, which we don't have.
